Maria K. E. Lahman Biography 

Maria K. E. Lahman, Ph.D., is a qualitative methodology professor and author in the areas of culturally responsive, ethical qualitative research. Additionally, she has developed an expertise in supporting researchers in publishing and persevering, crafting ethical solutions for culturally complex situations, and creating aesthetic representation of research. A Mennonite, Maria challenges herself to weave aspects of social justice and peacebuilding into her pedagogy and scholarship. She is currently crafting a text on culturally responsive qualitative research with Sage Publishing.

Creating Culturally Responsive Qualitative Research

Tenets of culturally responsive research and dispositions of a culturally responsive researcher will be offered. Research should create change for the good. Conversation about how we can begin to discern what is “good” and work towards these research goals will be explored. Attendees will be challenged to choose a disposition focus area for their current or upcoming research. Crafting steps towards a rich and renewing culturally responsive research life will be described. An array of resources for engagement and renewal, the webinar recording, and slides will be provided.
