Workshop Description
Join Dr. Laura L. Lemon for an interactive workshop on a behind-the-scenes look and the best practices in qualitative methods. Whether you are a seasoned scholar or are looking to hone your skills, this workshop will provide you the tools needed to improve and enhance your processes. Specifically, this workshop will cover sampling and recruitment approaches, strategies for data collection, tips for analyzing different types of data and how to incorporate software, data management advice, incorporating mindfulness to ensure quality, and writing techniques. Participants are encouraged to come with questions and issues from the field that can be troubleshooted as a group. If you are looking to brush up and enhance your skills, then this is the workshop for you!
Dr. Lemon is a seasoned qualitative scholar and a long-time friend of TQR. Her award-winning research agenda focuses on theory building in internal public relations, with emphasis on internal communication and employee engagement. Dr. Lemon’s work can be found in numerous top peer-reviewed publications including The Qualitative Report. Most recently, she published a book, The Mindful Qualitative Researcher, as part of Sage’s Qualitative Research Methods Series. She is currently a tenured, associate professor at The University of Alabama in the Department of Advertising and Public Relations and the director of the Internal Communication Engagement Initiative under the Institute for Communication and Information Research at UA. Dr. Lemon completed her Ph.D. in Communication and Information from the University of Tennessee. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communication from Pepperdine University and was conferred a Master’s in Communication from the University of Colorado, Denver.
