Advanced workshop on Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA)
11am-6pm USA Eastern Time

This workshop is intended for researchers and postgraduate and doctoral students who have already begun an IPA study. The class will aim to enable participants to produce high quality IPA through considering what enables the collection of good data and what is involved in conducting a good piece of analysis. Participants must have already done collected some IPA data for their study in the form of, for example, in depth-interviews or diaries. We will look at some delegates’ data during the session. (Please note that due to limited enrollment in the advanced workshop, Dr. Smith will review your responses to the questions asked. An email will then be sent out with a registration link by November if you are chosen.)

Introductory workshop on Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA)
11am-6pm USA Eastern Time
Register Here

This workshop provides a practical introduction to the experiential, qualitative approach-interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA). The aim is that, by the end of the class, attendees will recognise the important principles of the approach and understand the main practical steps involved in a research project using IPA. The workshop will begin with a short example of a study conducted by Jonathan. The best way to get to grips with the value of an approach is to see what it can produce. This will be followed by a brief presentation of the theoretical underpinnings of IPA. Most of the workshop will be taken up with Jonathan guiding participants through the stages of conducting an IPA study: design, data collection, analysis, writing up.

Zoom

The workshops will take place via the Zoom platform.
